“Locations” is the name of a photography class whose primary purpose is to provide new venues for practicing the art of photography. The photography classes I have been taking for the last two years are from the Spokane Art School in Spokane, Washington. Going to Spokane for the Locations class has given me a broader vista for shooting plus the valuable feedback from others in the class. This is the start of a new quarter and the classes will be posted with the most recent first. I took the class once before and the photos from those five trips can be found on the Archive page.

Centennial Trail
This is the last class of the year and our last for the season. Once winter is here, the 100 miles to Spokane becomes can be unpleasant. We will keep in touch with classmates via e-mail, critique and praise photos remotely.
We went to the Centennial Trail west of Plante’s Ferry along the Spokane River. The day started out rainy but slowly cleared.

Yard Work
This is slightly cheating! The Location here is our yard. All of a sudden, with the leaves and the mushrooms there were lots of things to photograph. Even the cats kicked in, running around berserk with energy to spare.

Mt. Spokane
The third class took a trip to Mt. Spokane before the snows would close the area to cars. We didn’t quite make the cutoff and wound up walking the last bit but that was all to the good. It was overcast interspersed with bits of sun. It was frosted when we arrived but warmed up fast.

Finch in September
The second session we went to the Finch Arboretum in Spokane. It was too early to get the height of the fall color but there were some signs of fall. The arboretum was singed by a fire along side one edge which luckily did no hurt any of the major areas or plants.

Downtown Spokane
The first class was a walk, starting at the art school on the north side of Riverfront Park in Spokane. We went through the park, down alleys when possible, to reach the Steam Plant Grill. The pictures in the album follow our path there and back.

Great photos, Sandi. I really enjoy the element of people in these. People working, taking breaks – just fun candid moments you caught. The one with the two workers from opposite sides of the alley is great. I also really like the one under the underpass – “have a ball”.
